In Chapter 15 I believe that the life lesson conveyed by Krakauer experience climbing Devils Thumb is: be prepared for any and all possibilities (when going into the wild). As Mr. Finch did, when he went to Alaska with one of his friends and prepared all possible contingencies. Preparation can change a life treating situation into a more deal able situation. In Chapter 18 though, I think that the life lesson is what Chris wrote in the book Doctor Zhivago stating that “happiness only real when shared.” Chris in this chapter, in my mind has come to forgive his father and mother for their “faults” because happiness doesn’t always come from solitude, but being able to share your happiness with family or friends is much more “satisfying.” Chris I think know understands that human’s need other human interactions; that humans need something or someone to get them though the day or life isn’t worth living to not be able to share love or happiness with some tangible thing. In the Epilogue I think the life lesson is: “people live and people die, it’s how you lived your life; that’s what truly matters. Even though Chris’ life was short he lived it to its fullest and he die in a place that he loved… Mark Pilarski
